American Idol Auditons: 11 Iowa City Area Singers Advance

American Idol was in Iowa City this morning as part of its bus tour of smaller communities


Iowa City became a destination Tuesday morning for singers who wanted their American Idol dreams to come true.

More than 100 singers lined up at the University of Iowa's Hubbard Park as early as midnight in hopes of singing their way onto the show. Auditions began at 8 a.m. this morning and continued until 4 p.m.

According to the Iowa City Press-Citizen, of that large crowd, eleven singers were chosen to make it onto the next round by 11:00 a.m. this morning.

Iowa City was chosen as one of 10 nation-wide stops for the American IDOL Small Town Bus Tour and was fifth on the list of stops. Other stops have been Idaho Falls, ID; Billings, MT; Casper, WY; Rock Rapids, IA and following Iowa City will be Bowling Green, KY; Clarksdale, MS; Joplin, MO; Dodge City, KA; and Grand Junction, CO.
