Best Buddies Mini Golf Outing

The Career Leadership Academy Phase III class, made up of juniors and seniors at The University of Iowa, has organized and is hosting a mini golf tournament benefiting the Best Buddies organization here at the UI. From their website, Best Buddies is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Groups of 3 students from various student organizations will be paired up with a Best Buddies member, and will play 18 holes of mini-golf. The student with the best shot counts their score toward the team score, and the team with the best score at the end wins. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

The goal of this event is for the students to get hands on experience organizing something that benefits the local community, raising awareness for the Best Buddies organization, and encouraging other student organizations to get involved and help each other out. If you are interested in covering this event, checking out what the Best Buddies organization has to offer, or finding out more about the Career Leadership Academy class at the UI, please contact Sam Saltess at samantha-saltess@uiowa.edu.
