Homecoming Commemorative Button Bidding

• 100TH ANNIVERSARY

   

This year, the Homecoming Executive Council will be providing a great opportunity for you to show your Hawkeye Spirit and also to celebrate the 100^th anniversary of Homecoming at the University of Iowa! The first Homecoming was on November 23, 1912 when the Hawkeyes took on Wisconsin. Although the game resulted in a loss for the Hawkeyes, it started a wonderful tradition at the University of Iowa. Over 300 alumni returned to Iowa City to celebrate the first Homecoming. Over the past 100 years, Homecoming has expanded to much more than just a game. Homecoming week provides faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the community the opportunity to get involved with the University of Iowa and also show off their Hawkeye Spirit. We hope that you will join us this year as we celebrate an outstanding tradition at the University.

 The 100^th anniversary commemorative buttons will be produced in a quantity of 500. All 500 buttons will be numbered and will include a certificate of authenticity, signed by President Mason and Bryan Wentworth, 2012 Homecoming Executive Director, a brief history of homecoming, and a velvet bag. University President, Sally Mason, will sign buttons numbered 1-100, and 500. 

Only Numbers 1- 100 and 500 will be available for bidding.

Bids will be accepted by mail or in person only through the Hub starting August 13^th at 10 am. Bidding will be closed at 10pm on Thursday September 20^th. Please follow the rules below to submit your bid.

All bids must be submitted in legible writing and sealed in an envelope with the following information:

• Address
• Email Address
• Phone Number
• What is the amount of your bid? Starting bids are $75.00

Only one bid per person will be accepted.

1. No bids will be accepted by telephone or fax.
2. Do not include money or credit card information with your bid. You will be contacted if your bid is a winning bid.
3. DEADLINE: September 20^th by 10 pm (CST). Bids after 10 pm will not be accepted!
4. Bids will be accepted in person or by mail only at: The Hub, Attention: UI Homecoming ’12, 138 Iowa Memorial Union, Iowa City, IA 52242-1317

The highest bid will take the lowest available number.

All bids are final. Winning bidders will be notified beginning Sunday, September 23, 2012.

Buttons should be picked up in person at The Hub starting Monday, September 24th. If shipping is requested, a $5.00 shipping fee will be added per button.
