Finally, Senate Majority Leader Bill Dix (R-Shell Rock) Resigns!

Will Democrat Tracy Freese win the election against whichever Republican candidate fights for Bill Dix's senate seat? I certainly hope so!

Senate Majority Leader Bill Dix (R-Shell Rock, IA) resigned after he was caught kissing Lindsey McCune, a lobbyist for the Iowa League of Cities (ILC), at a bar in Des Moines March 1st, 2018. The Iowa Starting Line had the story and the video first (the video is by far the clearest here). If you take the Gazette and/or the Des Moines Register, the news was sprawled all over the front page. Shameless Sen. Bill Dix, who should have resigned last year after claiming that he fired former Republican Caucus communications director Kirsten Anderson for "poor work performance" within seven hours of her complaining about sexual harassment, got one mulligan from Republicans but not two.

With help from the sexual harassers in the Republican Caucus, including former Sen. Shawn Hamerlinck (R-DeWitt), who commented on the length of women staffers' skirt lengths. Republican staffer Russ Trimble testified in court that he once heard Hamerlinck ask Kirsten Anderson about the size of her areolas. Kirsten Anderson testified that Republican Caucus staffer Jim Friedrich showed her a photo of Kim Kardashian in the nude on his work computer. He also used the c-word in referring to women. Bill Dix didn't fire Friedrich; he fired Anderson. Dix and the rest of the Republican boys' club converted two people to the Democratic Party (Kirsten Anderson and her husband). Could he and the Republican boys' club have converted more? We'll know in November. Even Rep. Steve King (R-4th Dist., IA) could be vulnerable.

Tracy Freese, a tall redhead who has been running as a Democrat against Bill Dix, will probably have a Republican candidate to run against eventually, but it won't be Bill Dix. As big and faulty a tower as Bill Dix is, I don't know whether to be glad or sorry for his loss as a target.

Ninety-eight percent of black women voted for Democratic Sen. Doug Jones, who successfully prosecuted a murder case against Thomas Edwin Blanton, Jr. and Bobby Frank Cherry, two of the Ku Klux Klan members who blew up four little black girls in an Alabama church. In the Alabama race, Jones won the election against a credibly accused child molester "Judge" Roy Moore (removed from the bench twice, like Iowa's District 3B Chief Judge Duane Hoffmeyer, Judge Rustin Davenport, and Hardin County District Judge James McGlynn should be.)

Will Iowa women sick of sexual harassment and the men who get away with it deliver for Tracy Freese? I've been donating to her campaign, and I know at least one of my friends, Dennis Smith has.
