Hillary Calls for Sanctions on Iran

Hillary Clinton called for sanctions against Iran after Iran fired missiles hostile to Israel. Where's Bernie Sanders on Iran's hostile act?

After Iran launched missiles stamped with the Hebrew words, “Israel should be wiped from the pages of history,” Hillary Clinton called for sanctions against Iran.

Where’s Bernie Sanders' statement regarding Iran’s outrageous aggression?

I’ve been a strong Bernie Sanders supporter, but he needs to be strong on foreign policy. We don’t need another indecisive wimp like Pres. Barack Obama has been. Obama’s indecisiveness and weakness on Syria, his blurry red line on the use of chemical weapons by Assad, created a vacuum that gave Russian dictator Vladimir Putin the opportunity to become a military player backing Syria’s dictator, Bashar al-Assad, who has murdered hundreds of thousands of his own people. Russia's military forces have helped Assad turn the tide against rebels fighting the Assad regime.

A book on how to deal with difficult people recommends that when you’re dealing with a bully (“bulldozer”), you have to bulldoze him back. You can’t back down in a confrontation with a bully. The bully will despise you for weakness and take advantage of you. That prediction has certainly played out in Obama’s policy toward Iran and Russia. Obama has only been willing to be resolute with China regarding China's militarization of the South China Sea and North Korea's unbridled and unhinged aggression toward South Korea and the U.S.

Good for Hillary for taking a stand on Iran’s policy of firing missiles with a longer version of the message "death to Israel" stamped on them. Iran’s Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said to the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), “The reason we designed our missiles with a range of 2,000 km is to be able to hit our enemy the Zionist regime from a safe distance.”

Is that an aggressive statement following an aggressive launch of missiles? Is that the result we expected after signing a nuclear pact with Iran? It’s early days for Iran to begin testing the United states with repeated and well publicized acts of aggression, including capturing U.S. sailors and holding them under demeaning circumstances for a short period of time within days of Iran and the U.S. signing a nuclear pact.

Bernie needs to speak up regarding Iran's aggression toward Israel. We haven't heard much from him on foreign policy. As important as the economy is, and as worried as I am about Hillary's close ties to Wall Street, we need a Democratic candidate who is as strong on foreign policy as on economic policy.
