Organizations interested in applying for the City’s Social Justice and Racial Equity Grant for FY2021 can remotely attend one of two informational meetings being offered on the grant. Both sessions are being held virtually via Zoom.

The sessions will provide an opportunity to learn about the purpose, process, and timeline for the grant. Participants will also receive useful tips on filling out the application. A question and answer session will follow.
Who can apply?
This grant opportunity is available to Iowa City-based organizations, both non and for profit, with the purpose of encouraging, empowering, and engaging social justice and racial equity initiatives through programs, activities, or services that help eliminate inequities in the Iowa City community.
Programs that address one or more of the six priority service areas will receive preference: education, building community, housing, criminal justice, health, and employment.
The City Council has approved $75,000 for FY2021, which will be split among the recipients.
How can I apply?
The online application will be begin Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020 through Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at icgov.org/SJREgrantapplication.
The Iowa City Human Rights Commission will review all applications and make funding recommendations to the City Council no later than Tuesday, March 30, 2021. Funding will be awarded by June 1, 2021.
