Iowa City House Fire Causes $5,000 Worth of Damage

The fire in southeast Iowa City happened Sunday morning, according to authorities.


Noone was injured by a fire that caused $5,000 in damage to a house on Howell Street Sunday morning.

According to a release from the Iowa City Fire Department, units were dispatched to 1035 Howell Street at 10:01 a.m. Sunday morning for the report of a house fire.

In roughly four minutes after the call, three fire engines, 1 ladder truck, and the Battalion Chief responded to the fire. Initial responders reported seeing smoke issuing from the residence.

Fire fighters quickly brought the fire under control with a quick advance. The fire department remained on scene for a total of two hours.

Investigation continues into the cause of the fire. The damage to the house and its contents was estimated at $5,000.
