Iowa City Man Allegedly Bites Officer on the Hand: Iowa City Police Blotter, Feb. 4

An Iowa City man was charged for assaulting a University of Iowa police officer after he allegedly bit the officer while being escorted into the .

On Feb. 3, at 10:12 p.m. an officer reported that was escorting Bryan Jambois, 20, of 603 N. Dubuque St., Iowa City into the Johnson County Jail while putting his wallet into his back pocket. As the officer put his hand on Jambois's shoulder to control him, Jambois allegedly turned his head around and bit the officer on his hand and small finger. According to the criminal complaint, Jambois allegedly then had to be taken to the ground to get control of him.

An Iowa City man allegedly ran over a stop sign and admitted his drunkiness to police in a colorful way early in the morning on Feb. 4.

Police say they responded to a report of someone who had been traveling at a high rate of speed on Benton Street and who had run over a stop sign at the intersection of Rushmore Drive and Mormon Trek Boulevard. According to the criminal complaint, police found a vehicle matching the description of the report at 1528 Rushmore Dr. Police say driver, Blake Adam Housely, 23, of 825 Oakcrest St., Iowa City, walked up to them as they arrived and were examining the damage at the front of the car. Housely reportedly admitted that he had driven his cousin to the address and had been there roughly a half hour.

When police asked Housely to take an intoxication test, Housely allegedly replied "(Expletive) it, I'm drunk." and turned around while putting his hands behind his back, which caused him to fall over.  The arresting officer reported that Housely was exhibiting signs of intoxication, as well as smelling strongly of alcohol. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
