Iowa City Petsel Place Murder Suspect Arrested Tuesday Night in Illinois

The man police suspect of being involved in a shooting on Petsel Place in June has been arrested in South Holland, Illinois.


The Iowa City Police Department has announced that Brandon Brown, 27, was arrested last night in South Holland, IL at approximately 9:30pm by the Cook County Sheriff's Police.

Brown is accused of fatally shooting Donelle Derrell Lindsey, 30, of Iowa City at 2437 Petsel Place back in June. He is facing a charge of first-degree murder.

According to eyewitness accounts provided to police, on the evening of June 21, Brown met Lindsey at the above address and asked him to walk down the street with him. After walking a short distance, they argued. Brown produced a handgun and allegedly shot Lindsey multiple times at a relatively close range. Some of the bullets struck Lindsey in the chest. Lindsey was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, where he died from his wounds. 

Brown was then seen fleeing the area.

One of the witnesses knew Brown before the shooting, while in a photo lineup, other witnesses were also able to positively identify Brown as the shooter.

Bond is $1 million cash only. The Iowa City Police Department waiting to take Brown into custody pending extradition from where he is currently being held in Cook County, IL.
