Iowa City Police: Chinese Take Out Drivers Robbed at Gunpoint

Two drivers from the China Wok in Iowa City reported being robbed at gunpoint Tuesday.


Two employees reported being robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night while making a take-out delivery.

According to an Iowa City Police Department press release, police responded to 700 Brookside Dr. at 11:00 p.m. last night for an unknown problem. The officers who arrived made contact with the two China Wok employees who told them they have been robbed while making a delivery to 828 Willow Street.

The employees told police that when they arrived at the residence they didn't see anyone outside. As one employee went to exit the vehicle to deliver the food, he was reportedly approached by a man who pointed a long gun at him. The man then took the food and the money before running away on foot.

Neither employee was injured in the incident. The man with the gun was described as being a white male between the ages of 20 and 30 years old with a long face. He was wearing a black stocking cap and a black coat according to the employees.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of this man. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are anonymous, and the caller's identity does not have to be revealed to collect the reward.
