Iowa City Father Facing Trespass Charge For Running on Field to Yank Son Off of Soccer Pitch
An Iowa City man is charged with running onto a soccer field during a City High game to retrieve his son Wednesday evening.

An Iowa City father is facing a trespassing charge after he allegedly ran onto the field to pull his son off the field Wednesday evening.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, at approximately 6 p.m. Benjamin Ingell Hazard Doyle, 51, of Iowa City, was witnessed by officers running onto the field at during a City High men's soccer match. Doyle allegedly ran on to the field in an attempt to pull his son off the field because he forbid his son to play soccer due to his academic performance, according to the complaint.
However, after police intervened, City High staff revealed that the son's grades were good enough for him to play and that his mother had given him permission. Police say Doyle admitted that he let his temper get the better of him and that he knew he wasn't allowed to come onto the field.

Doyle was given a trespass warning to all City High events and property in accordance to staff wishes. Trespass is a simple misdemeanor.
