Iowa City Rummage in the Ramp Schedule and Details

The city's biggest garage sale is returning next week.


It's back!

As if to signal the return of swarms of students to Iowa City's fair shores, the city's largest weeklong garage sale "Rummage in the Ramp" will be held once again in the Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp, 460 E. Washington St.. and is kicking off today.

Here's the schedule for when the ramp will be open for donations and purchases:

Friday, July 27: Noon to 8 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, July 28-29: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Monday - Friday, July 30 - August 3: Noon to 8 p.m.
Saturday, August 4: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The donated items, which are tax-deductible, will be sold by volunteers and city officials generally at prices ranging from $1 to $20. The proceeds will be shared by the nonprofit organizations that staff the event.

Items for available for purchase often include:

...everything from furniture and beds to clothing, books, pots, pans, dishes, exercise equipment, electronics, and other household goods, including many unique, one-of-a-kind or hard-to-find items.

For bargain bin shoppers and avid hagglers, August 4 will mark the "Everything goes!" phase of the sale. Beginning at noon that day, shoppers at the ramp will be able to name their price for items, possibly heading off with even great deals.
