Iowa City West and City High Schools Declared to be Among Best in the State, Nation by Newsweek Magazine
The annual Newsweek survey of the nation's high schools has been released and Iowa City West and City High Schools rank high against the best in the nation. Read on to see how they did.

Newsweek Magazine's annual survey listing the nation's top 1,000 high schools is out again, and both and High Schools performed well based on the magazine's criteria, ranking number five and number one respectively in Iowa.
These rankings, of course, only tell part of the total picture of the value of a school, but it's nice to see some local school faculty get some recognition for what they have accomplished.
Here are the Iowa rankings, with the national rank in parentheses:

The list is based on: six components provided by school administrators: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered per student(5 percent).
