A concerned citizen just called me with the news that a judge just ruled in favor of the petition signed by enough valid signatories to put the question of whether Hoover Elementary School, the one next to City High, will be demolished. He got the news from a very reliable source.
Joe Holland, the Iowa City Community School District, took the opposite side of the Save Hoover movement and made the judgment at a school board meeting that the petition was not valid. He was wrong, which doesn't surprise me, because he always sides with the superintendent whether he's right or wrong.

Gregg Geerdes, a local attorney, took the question of the legality of the petition to court and won. What we've won is still unknown, but we will know soon whether Hoover's demolition, the neighborhood school Hoover next to City High, will be on the ballot.
