The June 24, 2014 Iowa City Community School District board business meeting scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. has a lot packed into a small agenda. First off, in the consent agenda the board will approve $2.7 million in district disbursements with $1.4 million coming out of the general fund alone.
In personnel action, we have the salaries of many district employees for 2015 listed, including two board members' spouses, who are para-educators. Will those board members abstain from voting on their spouses' salaries?
In the board meeting itself, there are more Appendix 9 expenditures and change orders. My personal favorite is the superintendent's contract, which doesn't include a raise and should involve questions concerning the superintendent's whereabouts two days after the Revenue Purpose Statement vote.
You may witness fireworks before the 4th of July.
