Legal Aspects of Autonomous Driving

Friday, October 24, at 4:00 p.m., guest lecture by Asst. Professor Bryant Walker Smith, in room 40 Schaeffer Hall.

The conversation on “driverless” cars has increased in the past several months. Especially in Johnson County, Iowa, which has become one of the first counties in the country that allows “driverless” cars on their roads. However, many wonder the legal implications for such an advanced technology.

This Friday, the UI Public Policy Center and The National Advanced Driving Simulator (NADS) invite you to join us in room 40 of Schaeffer Hall, where Professor Bryant Walker Smith will discuss vehicle automation, the likely development scenarios, and identify steps that governments at each level might take to support these scenarios. The talk is titled, “Legal Aspects of Autonomous Driving: Strategies for encouraging vehicle automation that have little to do with vehicle automation.”

This event is free and open to the public.
