Man Suing University of Iowa for $375K Blogs His Allegations
The Iowa City man compares university leaders to "slumlords."

A local man is using his blog to hurl some heavy allegations at University of Iowa leaders.
Cliff Missen says he lived in a university-owned rental and concerns about the condition of the place -- including water allegedly coming in through the walls -- went unaddressed:
I would expect behavior like this from the slumlords of Iowa City who take advantage of uninformed students, but not from an institution that lives off the goodwill of the public, is entrusted to house so many students, and pretends to provide leadership in the fields of public health and civic responsibility.

Missen goes on to say the conditions in the apartment were so bad that he was "poisoned to the point of developing a late-in-life mold allergy."
Missen also says his efforts to reach out to university and state leaders fruitless. He posted a letter he says he received from State Board of Regents staff, but Missen says the letter was inaccurate.

"OK. Someone's taken WAY TOO MANY psychedelic drugs here," Missen wrote on his blog.
UI spokesman Tom Moore told the Press-Citizen this week that university leaders planned to "vigorously" defend against Missen's allegations.
