According to a media release, authorities received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about a web address that had been associated with uploading content to something called the "G Boys" social network. This web address was later tracked back to Donnan, according to the release.

In his guilty plea, Donnan admitted to uploading six images of child pornography to the network, along with downloading other content of this type. He also admitted to sharing other child pornography directly with other users and on a website, according to the release.
