Douglas L. Kron, 54, of Hills died Sunday, May 18th at home following a brief illness.
Doug was born November 3, 1959 in Iowa City, the son of William and Evelyna Cole Kron, Sr. He was a 1978 graduate of West High School and attended Kirkwood Community College.
Doug was a welder, a master manipulator of molten metal. He also delivered DX fuel to farmers for many years.
Doug was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 125. He loved to hunt and play a good game of cards. Doug was a proud father and will be greatly missed.
Doug is survived by his three sons, Alex Kron of Orlando, Florida, Nicholas Kron of West Des Moines and Will Kron of Solon; his stepson, Adam Nelson-Ockenfels of Solon; two brothers, Bill (Deb) Kron of West Branch and Steve (Amy) Kron of Iowa City; and his former spouses, Elyse Shindelar of West Des Moines and Roseanne Ockenfels of Solon.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Tresa.
In lieu of flowers, the Doug Kron Memorial Fund has been established.
