Earl L. Keyser, 70, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Windmill Manor in Coralville, Iowa, following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
To further the research for Parkinson’s disease, Earl chose to donate his body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. No public services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Holy Trinity Church of North Liberty, or Hospice Compassus.
Earl was born on October 7, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Earl and Patricia (Fraser) Keyser. He grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa and graduated from Marshalltown High School. He graduated from Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia and later went on to earn his MA degree from Iowa State University. On May 31, 1970, Earl married Christine Evans. Earl and Chris lived in Wayzata, Minnesota, where Earl served as a Network Administrator for the Wayzata, Minnesota School District for many years before retiring in 2004. Following his retirement, Earl and Chris moved to Fairfield, Iowa where they continued to reside until moving to North Liberty in 2011.
Earl was a wonderful man who loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed showcasing his skills as an amateur magician, working on puzzles, playing games, watching movies and attending plays. He will be greatly missed!
Survivors include his wife Chris of North Liberty, Iowa; a daughter, Amy Keyser of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Thomas Keyser (Katherine Harris) of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; and two sisters, Carol Burnside (George) of Montgomery, Alabama and Bonnie Thurston of Marshalltown, Iowa.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents.
