Police Charge Roommates with Buying Handgun from Felon: Iowa City Police Blotter, Feb. 11

This past week, Iowa City police arrested and charged a trio of roommates and charged one with a drug offense and the others with involvement with buying a stolen handgun.

On Feb. 6, police arrested Tregg Darnell Boone, 24, of 400 BJaysville Ln Apt. 1, Iowa City and Ryan C. Barthelemy, 25, same address, and charged them with second-degree theft, a felony, after investigation allegedly tied them to buying a stolen weapon from a convicted felon. Boone allegedly provided money to someone else so they could buy the gun, and Barthelemy allegedly admitted to purchasing and then disposing of the weapon. The complaint said several witnesses confirmed Barthelemy's version of the story.

On Feb. 10, another roommate, Brandon Gregory Miller, 28, was stopped for driving his vehicle with an obstructed windshield at the intersection of Churst and N. Dubuque Streets at 7:15 a.m.

According to complaint, police then searched Miller and allegedly found a bag of marijuana and $1,800 in cash on his possession. Police charged Miller with felony marijuana possession with intent to distribute.
