President's Day: What's Open and What's Closed
The city of Iowa City released a schedule of what is opened and closed during the holiday.
City administrative offices at City Hall will be closed on Monday, February 20 in observance of President's Day. Other offices or facilities that will be closed include the Airport administrative office, Animal Care and Adoption Center, Equipment Building, Landfill and Recycling Center, Parks and Recreation offices, Police administrative and records offices, and Senior Center.
The following schedules will be in effect for the holiday:
Airport: The administrative office will be closed, but Jet Air (FBO) will be open regular hours.
Library: The Library will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Parking and Transit: Parking and Transit will run normal operations.
Police: Front Desk and Patrol offices will be open.
Parks and Recreation: Offices will be closed, but the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center and the Mercer Park Aquatic Center / Scanlon Gym facilities will be open regular hours.
Senior Center: The Meals on Wheels Nutrition Program will not be offered.
Solid Waste: Refuse, recycling, and yard waste will not be collected on Monday. Residents on the Monday route should have materials placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21. Residents on the Tuesday through Friday routes should have materials at the curb by 7 a.m. on their regular collection day, although the City cannot determine exactly when items will be collected.
Water: The Water Division office will be closed, but a 24-hour emergency line and on-call staff will be available. Residents who have a water emergency should call 319.356.5166 for assistance.
City offices and operations will return to normal schedules on Tuesday, February 21.
