"Remember Kavanaugh" Is Sen. Grassley's Sexist Rallying Cry

"Remember Kavanaugh!" sounds like "Remember the Alamo." Texans lost the Alamo. What did Sen. Grassley lose, other than his integrity?

Sen. Chuck Grassley's (R-IA) election rallying cry is "Remember Kavanaugh," according to reporter James Q. Lynch of the Gazette. You'd think the privileged, white male senator had lost the fight to confirm a credibly accused judge of sexual assault and sexual misconduct. Grassley won. Trump won.

Bite down on that all you purists and misogynists who couldn't bring yourself to vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016 because she was flawed. And Trump isn't?

Kavanaugh was confirmed despite Dr. Christine Blasey Ford's credible allegations of sexual misconduct. Trump, himself a serial sexual assaulter (see the Access Hollywood tape in which Trump brags to Billy Bush about how he grabs women by their genitals), intentionally limited the scope of the FBI investigation into Kavanaugh's multiple sexual misconduct allegations to make sure there were no corroborations of his accusers' allegations.

"Remember Kavanaugh" like "Remember the Alamo"? Texans lost the battle of the Alamo. Grassley won confirmation of Kavanaugh despite his inappropriate and biased interruptions of the hearing to control the outcome.

Grassley got a hint of the power of female sexual assault survivors rallying in the halls of the Senate who were there to protest the dismissive, condescending attitudes of the Republican dinosaurs openly mourning what Brett Kavanaugh and his family had been through! Grassley showed no such empathy for the death threats that Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and her family received after her anonymity was blown against her will. How did she find out her anonymity had disappeared? A reporter showed up in a class she was teaching and she came home to reporters camped outside her home. Since then she and her family have relocated at least twice to stay safe. To be fair, Brett Kavanaugh also received death threats.

Women sexual assault survivors are used to our allegations being dismissed when we're brave enough to come forward. But why would we? Most rape kits aren't even tested by police. Rape kits languish on police department shelves for years. What's up with that? Detectives found the Golden State killer after a relative tested his DNA. The Golden State killer was a former police officer.

"Remember Kavanaugh" is Democratic women's election rallying cry too, but not in the way Grassley means it. We are the ones who lost. Sexual assault survivors are not a "mob"; we're not "dangerous arsonist[s]" as Donald Trump called us. We're responsible people who are tired of being dismissed and treated like second-class citizens. We're mad as hell and we're not going to take it any more! #TimesUp is not just a mantra. We mean it and we're voting November 6th.

According to a recent CBS poll, "Women continue to think the Democrats in Congress are working for issues of concern to women (55 percent) and that President Trump and the Republicans are working against those issues (53 percent). The Republican Party is seen by 65 percent of women (and most voters overall) as working for issues that concern men."

Crowdpac.com has amassed over $3.6 million for Sen. Susan Collins' 2020 opponent. Crowdpac.com is also gathering money for Sen. Charles Grassley's 2022 opponent. I've given to both political action committees. Beefing up the war chest for their opponents is the best way to express your disgust for Senators Collins' betrayal of women and Grassley's repeated interruptions and biased efforts to control the outcome of Brett Kavanaugh's nomination and to dismiss Christine Blasey Ford's sad testimony of what happened to her 15-year-old self at the hands of two drunk 17-year-olds.

I was against Judge Kavanaugh before he treated us to his whining, crying, and intemperate ranting about "a Democratic conspiracy on behalf of the Clintons" during his confirmation hearing. I was against him because he believes the president is above the law and he's not. No one is above the law. Kavanaugh would defend Trump's illegal actions and an imperial presidency, accountable to no one, which is exactly why Pres. Trump nominated him to the Supreme Court in the first place.
