Self Proclaimed "Olympic Fighter" Arrested After Allegedly Making Threats Toward Police: Iowa City Police Blotter, Feb. 17

A Barrington, Ill. man was arrested and charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and possession of a fake ID card after he allegedly created a disturbance in the Pedestrian Mall Friday morning.

Police say they approached Robert Michael Hanaford, 20, after he was seen allegedly pushing another man near Marco's Grilled Cheese stand in the Pedestrian Mall at 1:55 a.m. As officers arrived, the men turned to leave, but Hanaford turned around and allegedly told the uniformed officers "I'm going to kick some (expletive.)" The officers reportedly told Hanaford to leave but he refused, saying "Who wants to fight an olympic fighter." and attempting to push an officer. Hanaford was subsequently handcuffed and placed under arrest, according to the criminal complaint. A blood-alcohol test of Hanaford registered a .201 blood-alcohol content.
