Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) Opposes Pay Equity for Women But Supports Women Registering for the Draft
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) opposes pay equity for women but supports women registering for the draft at age 18. What a hypocrite!
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has opposed equal pay for equal work for women for decades. He claims that if women had equal training and education to men, they’d make as much money as men. But this is not true. Women make 80 cents on the dollar for doing the same work as men even in medical subspecialties. Women of color and older women make even less.
Now Sen. McCain supports women registering for the draft at age 18. Such a bill has already passed the Senate.
I’ve favored women registering for the draft for years because I think it’s key to women getting equal pay for equal work. However, I find it hypocritical for McCain to support a bill requiring women to register for the draft at age 18 but oppose equal pay for equal work at the same time.

Sen. McCain may have been in office so long he doesn’t think he has to make sense or be fair to women, but I think he does. I suspect a lot of women agree with me.
You want to increase our responsibilities to our country and continue to diminish our rights in the workplace? I don’t think so.

That’s why I will continue to send money to McCain’s opponents like I did in his last election. He’s out of date and out of step with the electorate, especially the half that represents a majority of the population.
I sent him a Women's March postcard to tell him how I feel, and you should too. Don't send a letter to Washington, D.C. because it will take three or four weeks to screen it for anthrax. A postcard is better or send a letter to one of his state offices in Arizona.
