Too Many Cats: Animal Center Lowers Cat Adoption Fees Through End Of October

The City's Animal Care and Adoption Center thinks the onset of cooler weather next week signals a great time to adopt a cat or kitten to help you keep warm this winter -- so they've temporarily lowered their cat adoption fees. Finding permanent homes for the pets will also help alleviate current overcrowding at the Animal Center.

Through the end of October, the fee for adopting one cat or kitten is $20. Take two, and the price drops even more, to $15 total. The fee covers all pre-adoptive medical care, including spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and disease screening, as well as microchip identification.

Cats that are available for adoption may be viewed on the Animal Care and Adoption Center website at www.icanimalcenter.org or at their facility at 4852 Sand Road. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 pm. Monday through Friday, and 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

For more information, call 319/356.5295 or e-mail Misha Goodman, Animal Care and Adoption Center Supervisor, at misha-goodman@iowa-city.org.
