Transient Accused of Selling Stolen Handgun: Iowa City Police Blotter, Feb. 10

An Iowa City man with no known address is accused by police of selling a stolen firearm to an unknown man on Feb. 4 at a party.
Eric M. Cole, 20, allegedly admitted to selling the firearm, a Para Ordnance LDA .40 caliber with custom work for $150. He also allegedly admitted he knew the gun was stolen and fired it several times to test it before selling it, according to the complaint. The handgun is valued at $2,500. Cole also allegedly involved a juvenile party in the transaction. According to the complaint, further investigation backed up Cole's version of the story.
For the crime, Cole was charged with several felonies, including possessing a handgun as a felon, trafficking in stolen weapons, second-degree theft for knowingly possessing stolen property and using a juvenile in the process of commting a felony.

This is in addition to a first-degree theft conviction on Dec. 16, 2011 and unlawful use of a credit card and fourth-degree theft last November.
A West Branch man allegedly got into a nasty argument with his live-in girlfriend on Feb. 9.

Leo Anthony Neuzil, 45, of West Liberty allegedly got the spat with his girlfriend over splitting a paycheck, which Neuzil did not want to do, according to the complaint. The couple continued to fight while parked at a gas station at 2875 Commerce Dr. at 4:46 p.m.
The argument continued and Neuzil allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the hair and attempted to slam her head into the floor of the vehicle. He allegedly continued to do this, hitting the woman's head against the stick shift. She pleaded with him to stop and said he was hurting her and she couldn't breathe, until he released her from the grip and she ran out of the vehicle.
Neuzil already had two prior domestic abuse convictions on Feb. 21, 2000 and July 30, 2002. His third charge landed him with a felony, domestic abuse assault third-or-subsequent offense.
