Two Corridor Interstate Bridges to be Named After Fallen State Troopers
After the death of a state patrol officer in 2011, an effort was pushed through the Iowa State House to name bridges after state troopers who died while on duty.

When traveling along Interstate Highways in Eastern Iowa, you will likely pass over some bridges named after some state troopers who died in the line of duty.
During a ceremony that will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Coralville on Wednesday these specific bridges will be named after the fallen officers:
...a bridge traversing the Iowa river along I-80 westbound will be dedicated in honor of Trooper Allen Nieland. Additionally, a bridge along I-380 northbound crossing the Iowa River will be dedicated in honor of Trooper Harold DeGear.
