Uncounted by Pollsters But Oversolicited by the “IRS”

Pollsters are out there but "IRS" scammers are out there too. Hang up if you get a call from the "Internal Revenue Service"! It's a scam!

Since we have caller ID on our landline phone, I began to worry that pollsters were not able to contact us regarding our support for Hillary Clinton in the crucial battleground state of Iowa. So when I’d get a call from a wireless or otherwise unknown caller, instead of ignoring it as I usually do, I started answering the phone today. This morning’s call was a menacing call from New York City’s “Internal Revenue Service.”

It was a robocall, but I still called the bot a liar and hung up.

This afternoon I got a call from an even more menacing voice from Washington: “The Internal Revenue Service…”

I hung up again, this time without comment.

We are still uncounted by pollsters as Iowans definitely voting for Hillary, but we’re definitely oversolicited by scammers posing as the IRS.

The IRS doesn’t call people. The IRS notifies people by mail. If you get a call from the “Internal Revenue Service,” hang up. It’s a scam.

Update: Late that same day, a robo pollster called me and asked me if I'd vote for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. I pressed one for Hillary Clinton. Then I was asked if I'd voted for Tammy Duckworth. Wrong state. The Franklin pollster also asked for my zipcode. If anyone at Franklin polls pays any attention at all, surely they'll realize that 52240 is an Iowa zip code, not Illinois.

The next morning, I got a call from New York again threatening to have me appear before a magistrate if I didn't call 1+347-441-2372. I was warned that this was the second attempt to reach me. I'm pretty sure it was the "IRS." I remember getting a call from the "IRS" from an area code 347 at about the same time the morning before. Needless to say, I didn't return the call.

My husband got a fake "personal" letter in the mail asking to buy our house.

It's not just Wells Fargo Bank operating massive scams. Apparently, criminals are leaving messages on people's answering machines inviting them to call back to participate in financial scams.

Is Congress still on recess? Is Congress doing anything about anything?
