VIDEO: Jarrod Uthoff Returns to Iowa, Spurns Bo Ryan (Oh the Schadenfreude!)

It'll take at least a year until Jarrod Uthoff suits up and sees the floor for the Iowa Hawkeyes, so here are a few videos to let you see Iowa's new high profile walk on.

Oh Bo Ryan it Burrrnnnss, the NCAA transfer system burns!

Scott Dochtermann of the Gazette is reporting that Jarrod Uthoff, a former Cedar Rapids Jefferson basketball standout, is transferring from the Wisconsin Badgers to walk-on to the University of Iowa men's basketball team.

You can read his great article and follow his Twitter for the details of the transfer. I want to tell people a little about why Iowa fans will particularly enjoy this news, I mean in addition to the fact that they just picked up a six-foot eight-inch tall combo forward with guard skills. Skills that incidentally you will be able to check out at this summer's Prime Time League.

1. Bo Ryan has beaten up on Iowa in the last decade, a lot. In fact, this past season's Iowa win on the road against Coach Ryan's Badgers was the first time Iowa had beaten Wisconsin on the road since 2000, when Uthoff was still in elementary school.

2. Wisconsin is a border rival.

3. Linn-Mar standout Jason Bohannon went to Wisconsin instead of Iowa, part of a string of great Lion players to go out of state.

4. In 2010, when Fran McCaffery was hired to replace Todd Lickliter, Ryan poached Ben Brust, one of Iowa's committed recruits away, seeking an exemption from a Big Ten rule forbidding interleague recruiting of committed players. An exemption was given, and Iowa did not restrict Brust's transfer options, so he went to Wisconsin.

This also so happened to be in one of the worst stretches in Iowa basketball history.

5. Fast forward to 2012, where Jarrod Uthoff decides he wants to transfer away from the Badgers. Ryan appears hypocritical to Iowa fans and also gains national criticism after restricting Uthoff's transfer options, forbidding him to transfer to a humorously large number of schools.

6. The Badgers relent, banning his transfer only to schools in the Big Ten. Uthoff transfers to Iowa anyway, despite having to pay his own way his first year due to the restrictions. Iowa fans feel their program is ascendant again, while putting a thumb in the eye of this guy.

7. Oh, and by the way, he picked Iowa over Iowa State.

And scene!
