Was the Towncrest University of Iowa Credit Union Robbed?

At 9:45 a.m., five Iowa City Police squad cars and a sheriff's vehicle were parked on Arthur Street checking out Town & Campus Apartments.

At about 11:00 a.m., my daughter, Sarah, drove by the Towncrest University of Iowa Credit Union and a big Iowa City Police van was sitting in the parking lot with its lights flashing, with nobody in the van, and all the entrances to the credit union were blocked off.

Was the credit union robbed? Did someone attempt to rob the credit union?

Usually the credit union is right on top of such situations. I'll never forget the time I rode up to a drive-through window on my bike in winter. I was wearing a facemask because it was so cold, and the next thing I knew, then Iowa City Police Sgt. Sid Jackson, who'd been my son's soccer coach, smoothly drove up alongside me.

I lifted my facemask and Sid said, "Oh, it's just you," laughed, and moved on.

There must be a button the tellers push when someone looks like a robber.
