Winners Announced In 2020 Rummage Redux Challenge In Iowa City

Rummage ReDux (pronounced "re-ducks" and meaning to revive, bring back, transform) is the City's annual do-it-yourself competition held as part of the annual Rummage in the Ramp resale event. Rummage ReDux encourages residents to take used pieces of furniture or other items they own, revive or redux it themselves with creativity, and then potentially win cash prizes for their work.

This year, as with many other events, Rummage in the Ramp was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns, and Rummage Redux went virtual with a more flexible format that allowed for online submissions. Five hobbyists/professionals/recyclers evaluated each submission on the following :

• Affordability and ease of project to be recreated by the general public
• Imaginative reuse and overall improvement
• Quality of the work
• Functionality of completed project

All participants received a cash prize or honorable mention for their entries. A complete list of entries with the story and pictures behind the project can be found at www.icgov.org/rummageintheramp.

The City of Iowa City thanks all participants for being a part of the competition this year, and for tapping into their creative sides to upcycle and reduce waste.
