Youth Art Exhibit returns to Chait Galleries

It's the highly anticipated return of the juried youth art exhibit at Chait Galleries in Downtown Iowa City

At a time when art class in school seems to be the first budget cut, this show seeks to foster the creation of original work among Iowa’s youth. It reveals the raw talent that lies within our students, a true disservice if these precocious minds were denied an art education. The purpose of this exhibit is, and always has been, to showcase the breadth of experience young students are receiving from their art classes. Real talent exists here. It’s up to the community, schools and supporters of art to keep this cultural necessity alive in Iowa for generations to come.

The Under 20 Youth Art Exhibition provides local students the opportunity to work win a professional gallery. For most students, this will be their first taste of working with an art gallery, something they are sure to encounter in the their future art careers. During the opening reception, students will compete with their piers for awards including Best in Show, Most Creative, Artistic Interpretation and other various awards. Prizes furnished by Blick Art Materials. At the show opening, local artists and gallery staff will be in house to discuss with students their experiences as professional artist in the fine art industry.

Everyone is invited to join us for show opener on April 17th from 5:00-8:00PM at Chait Galleries. Light refreshments will be served throughout the evening. No tickets are needed. Show runs from April 17th to May 15th- see our website for daily hours of operation.
