80 Degrees in March? It's Pure Madness in Johnston

It's another beautiful day in Johnston. Are you playing hookey to enjoy it?

Do you remember the last time it was 80 degrees outside? Neither do I.

OK, that's a lie, it was in the 80s during my Hawaiian vacation last month. But 80 in Iowa?

Well, remember March 14, 2012, the first day of the year we're expected to reach the 80 mark.

Yesterday, on one of the most beautiful days of winter/spring (what do we even call this?), my sunglasses broke.

So, as I was standing at Target picking out a new pair in a skirt and short-sleeves, it really hit me. This is March … early March at that.

Don't worry I'm not complaining, and I won't be complaining for the rest of the week.

On Tuesday we tied the record high for central Iowa of 77, set in 2007. The National Weather Service says Johnston should see a high temperature of 80 today and again on Thursday, which would break records.

And the gorgeous weather should continue into the weekend, with highs in the low to mid 70s throughout the week.

Just to add some reality to the forecast: the Weather Service says the normal high for this time of year in the metro is 48 degrees.
