• Johnston and Grimes sue fire truck makers over pricing (kcci.com) — Johnston residents should know their city, along with Grimes, is suing major fire truck manufacturers, alleging years of anticompetitive practices that inflated prices and delayed deliveries for the Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire District. The case seeks to recover alleged overcharges on recent multimillion-dollar truck purchases and to stop future conduct that city officials say burdens local taxpayers and fire protection services.
• Iowa Bankers Association Announces Launch of Foundation (dmcityview.com) — Based in Johnston, the Iowa Bankers Association has launched the Iowa Bankers Foundation to boost financial literacy, homeownership, workforce development, and disaster relief across communities. • ICGA sends diesel cost relief letter to state delegation (pencitycurrent.com) — From its Johnston headquarters, the Iowa Corn Growers Association is urging Iowa's congressional delegation to act quickly to ease soaring diesel prices as harvest begins. The group wants temporary tax relief so on-road trucks can use tax-exempt dyed diesel, arguing that current fuel costs are intensifying both economic and mental stress for farmers statewide.
