Pancheros Mexican Grill in Johnston to Give Free Burritos to Anyone Named Bob

Pancheros Mexican Grill—located at 8759 Northpark Drive in Johnston—will give a free burrito to anyone named Bob—or any variation of Bob (i.e. Robert, Rob, Robbie, Bobby, etc.)—on Tuesday, May 1. The offer is part of the company’s “Save Bobs” campaign to revive the once-prevalent name, which is shared by Bob the Tool, the mixing mechanism that blends ingredients together before they are wrapped into a tortilla at Pancheros.

As part of the social media campaign, which coordinates with Bob the Tool’s fourth anniversary, fans can visit the company Facebook page through May 15 for a chance to win a $5,000 prize. Fans just put the name of a surviving Bob—anyone from a friend to a celebrity—to enter. There will also be random drawings for prizes like gift cards and T-shirts throughout the campaign. Pancheros is also launching a microsite (www.savebobs.org) with a video featuring Aaron Yonda to spread the word about their quest to save Bobs everywhere.

“Pancheros is taking a stand and spearheading the humanitarian effort to save Bob,” said Reid Travis, marketing director for Pancheros. “We named our burrito mixing tool Bob to try to actively fill the environment with the name, and we are launching this campaign to raise awareness. The Facebook contest is our way of spreading the message while offering great prizes. We want to reward surviving Bobs by offering them a free burrito on May 1.”
