Battery Recycling: Which Ones Are Recyclable and Where Do They Go?

Located in a ZIP Code Near You

We live in a world of gadgets. Call2Recycle figured that out and provides convenient drop-off locations to recycle rechargeable batteries. This year alone, Americans have recycled over 6.7 million lbs. of batteries through Call2Recycle.

Several area city halls, libraries and businesses offer drop-offs – along with Metro Waste Authority locations. You can search Call2Recycle's website for the nearest location. Once you find one around the corner from you, stop in and look for the cardboard box. It's typically located near the doorway.

Which Batteries are Recyclable?
A quick answer is rechargeable and cell phone batteries. These types of batteries contain enough valuable material that it's a commodity. Alkaline or single-use batteries (aka AA, AAA or D batteries) do not contain enough recyclable or hazardous material – so you can throw those in the trash.
