Beaver Creek Second-Grader Get Hands-On With Insects
Second-grade students at Beaver Creek Elementary experienced creepy, crawly insects in the classroom on Oct. 6.
Second-graders at received a visit from some creepy crawly animals on Oct. 6.
Curtis Behrens, an entomologist from Iowa State University's Insect Zoo, visited Diane Rosene's classroom to share his love of insects. Behrens visits second graders at Beaver Creek each year.
"The studnets love seeing and touching many of the insects and learning about how they are good for our environment," said Rosene. "He does a fabulous job!"

Students learned about the hornworm, tomato moth, darkling beetles, Madagascar hissing cockroaches, tarantulas, scorpions and centipedes.
Several students were brave enough to hold the insects.
