Big Items on the Auction Block Tonight for Fundraiser for Johnston Mom

Auction items for tonight's event in include football tickets, movie passes and restaurant certificates.

The fundraiser for a Johnston mother battling breast cancer will have something for everyone.

will be the center of attention this evening during a fundraiser and silent auction at in Urbandale.

The  is being organized by her mother, Deb McGrew, and her stepfather, Butch McGrew. It aims to raise money to pay for the medical bills associated with Branid's triple-negative breast cancer.

Local businesses, as well as friends from out of state, have offered donations for the silent auction over the last few months.

"Stuff is still coming in," Deb McGrew said. "Just today she got a beautiful handmade necklace with the breast cancer sign on it."

The big-ticket item would have to be tickets to the Green Bay Packers versus the Minnesota Vikings football game in Minnesota.

"We were pretty excited about that," McGrew said.

Other items include lift certificates to , , and .

"We have a friend that made a stained glass for your window of the breast cancer sign," she said. "We have two family portrait sittings from two photo companies."

There are two baskets of margarita mixes and glasses, three pairs of designer sunglasses, an XBox system and a skill saw.

in Johnston provided $30 for two separate movie baskets, while in Johnston donated several sessions.

McGrew's brother made jewelry or bible boxes.

"He made them himself out of applewood and walnut," she said. "It's hard to let some of this go."

While the list of items goes on and on, McGrew said, she's thankful for the community's continued support. 

"Everyone is still calling to want to help and gifts are still coming in," she said.

The fundraiser will begin at 4 p.m. at OverTime and the auction will end at about 8 p.m. McGrew anticipates being at the fundraiser until 10 p.m. to award the auction items.
