Business of the Week: Communication is Key to Patient's Treatment at Team Chiropractic and Rehabilitation

Team Chiropractic and Rehabilitation aims to treat patients at the core of their pain.

Thorough examination and a variety of treatments set the care at Team Chiropractic and Rehabilitation apart from other chiropractors.

The Johnston business, which opens at 6 a.m. to accommodate all patients, aims to create a friendly atmosphere where patients have the time, and are encouraged, to ask questions, Nate Hinkeldey, owner and chiropractor said.

Hinkeldey chose to locate his business in Johnston a year ago because of the community's friendly, approachable and safe reputation.

"We believe that it is extremely important to work with each patient to get them performing a home exercise and stretching program," he said. "This way they are dependent on themselves and don’t have to use our services as often."

Hinkeldey said the office tries to debunk the reputation that once you start going to the chiropractor you continue going for the rest of you life.

"We strive to provide a higher standard of care that results in a more rapid recovery from your issue," he said. "Then we give you some things to perform at home so that you can stay healthy and pain free."

And for the tougher cases, Hinkeldey isn't afraid to get to the root of the cause.

"In order to properly assess each individual’s problem, you have to identify where the problem is coming from," he said. "Many times conditions come from areas that are often overlooked. At times people get relief for one to two days; however, the condition returns."

Team Chiropractic and Rehabilitation constantly assesses patients and their reaction to treatment.

If the results aren't in line, they move to another method of treatment.
Hinkeldey's diverse background has helped prepare him for all types of patients.

After graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Hinkeldey went on to work at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland.

"I worked alongside medical doctors, surgeons, physical therapists, and pain management specialists in order to return our nation’s heroes back to action," he said. "This integrative setting revealed the importance of communication amongst health professionals."

Hinkeldey is constantly talking to a patient's primary care physician, physical therapist, rheumatologist and other health professionals.

"The best thing about what I do, is what I do," Hinkeldey said. "I am one of the fortunate who gets to the get up every day and do my hobby. Being a chiropractor is something that I love and hope to be able to do long into my old age."
