Buy It at the Market – Right Here in Johnston

The Johnston Farmers' Market runs every Tuesday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall parking lot on Merle Hay Road.

From Johnston Mayor Paula Dierenfeld:

The Johnston Farmers Market is back – the fresh produce, baked goods and handmade items don’t get any better than what you’ll find right here in Johnston.

Take, for example, the pens created by Jesse Balmer. They’re all original and unique - and Jesse makes them in his free time when he’s not doing his homework or spending time with his family. Jesse’s only 13 but he’s knows a quality product and attention to business will lead to success. I have one of Jesse’s pens made from olive wood – I’ve got my eye on the one made from corn cob.

And then there’s the whole wheat cinnamon rolls that Donna Bailey makes and sells at the Market. They are absolutely delicious and they really are “healthy” because they’re made of all natural ingredients, including whole wheat and honey. But even if they weren’t good for me, I’d buy them anyway because they’re really, really good.

And of course there’s the great fresh produce. I bought some asparagus ... from one of the vendors – and roasted it. It was absolutely delicious!

You can find the Johnston Farmer’s Market every Tuesday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Johnston City Hall parking lot at 6221 Merle Hay Road.

The Johnston Farmers Market is sponsored by the Johnston Lions Club and managed by Johnston resident and volunteer, Judy Anderson. Proceeds from the Market are donated to the City for trees and beautification programs.

Oh, did I mention Crazy 4 Nuts? Great tasting gourmet-quality roasted nuts by Johnston residents Charles and Donna Reeder. Try the Sweet and Heat Pecans – they’ve got a kick. You’ll love them – I do.

See you at the Johnston Farmers Market!
