Carmike Movie Theaters in Johnston and Urbandale Searched by Police Following Bomb Threat
The national movie chain, headquartered in Georgia, received a non-specific bomb threat Friday morning. So, individual theaters -- including the Wynnsong 16 in Johnston and Cobblestone 9 in Urbandale -- are working with local police departments.

Police officers from Johnston and Urbandale have combed through local movie theaters this morning after the national Carmike Cinemas chain received a bomb threat.

The threat wasn't targeted at a specific theater, said Terrell Mayton, spokesman for the Carmike chain. No problems have been found at any of the theaters searched today.

Authorities said the theater in Johnston and the theater in Urbandale were searched by police officers and theater employees Friday morning. Nothing out of the ordinary was found at either movie complex.
FoxNews.com reports that Atlanta, GA, police say a caller phoned in a threat to Carmike Cinemas' corporate office in Columbus, GA, and they believe that caller is a former employee, MyFoxAtlanta.com reports.
Mayton told Patch that the threat allegedly was made by a vendor's employee, not an employee or former employee of Carmike.

A Wynnsong employee said that Johnston police and theater staff inspected the building this morning and "everything is normal."
Officer Jeff Casey with the said that Cobblestone employees did the right thing by contacting police about the generalized threat.Β
No problems were found during a visual inspection mid-morning by officers and Cobblestone is open for business, Casey said.
"If we get bomb threats officers do a walk through and look for anything out of the ordinary," he said. "They're handling it the right way."
