ChildServe Habilitation Service Manager Receives Honor
Steve Bargar earns scholarship for outstanding commitment.

Steven Bargar, the transitional care unit service manager at ChildServe, has been named as an Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) Foundation scholarship recipient.
IHCA is presenting Bargar with the Foundation’s $1,000 John R. Grubb Scholarship for his outstanding commitment to long-term care and the children he serves at ChildServe.
Bargar has worked at ChildServe since 2008 and has been in long-term care for seven years. He has worked in many different levels of care, including neonatal, pediatric, and geriatric, but has found his true passion in long-term care.

“The children and families we serve continue to give much more to me than I could ever give to them,” said Bargar in his nomination essay.
Teri Wahlig, Medical Director at ChildServe, says Bargar’s leadership abilities are “outstanding.”

“He is dedicated to supporting, encouraging, and coaching his staff,” said Wahlig. “Steve demonstrates incredible commitment to the children and families we serve as well as to the staff throughout the organization.”
This scholarship is helping Bargar further his education at Walden University, where he is working toward his Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management/Administration.
The IHCA Foundation is supported by the 729 members of the IHCA and the Iowa Center for Assisted Living which includes Iowa’s nursing facilities, assisted living communities, residential care facilities and long-term care associated businesses.
