Des Moines Area Memorial Run Planned to Honor Those Affected by Boston Marathon Bombings

The IMT Des Moines Marathon is planning a special memorial walk/run to honor those affected by Monday's Boston Marathon bombings.

The run/walk will be held at Nollen Plaza in Des Moines Saturday, April 20, starting at 7:30 a.m., according to WHO Channel 13. Participants will begin the event with a moment of silence and then choose whether to take the one-mile or six-mile route.

The event is free and does not require registration.

“This is not a race or a training run, but rather a chance to show our community support for Boston the best way we know how to at this time,” race director Chris Burch said in the press release.
