There's plenty happening in Johnston this weekend. Take a look at these fun community events.
Notable Iowa Veterans Exhibit - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum. A new photographic exhibit honoring the military and civilian accomplishments of 40 notable Iowa veterans. The exhibit is free to the public.
Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast - 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Wallace Elementary. The Johnston Kiwanis Club hosts a pancake breakfast to raise fund for the club's projects both locally and internationally, including: scholarships for Johnston High School Seniors, dictionaries for all Johnston elementary school 3rd Graders, and the Kiwanis Miracle League. The Kiwanis International project is Project Eliminate. Tickets at $5 in advance or $6 at the door, children under five are free.
Mayor's Run for the Trails 5K - 9 a.m. Saturday at Johnston High School. Proceeds from this first ever run will benefit the Johnston Recreational Trails. Entry fee is $25. Race-day registration is available, but t-shirt isn't guaranteed. Food and beverages are available following the race.
