Metro Arts Jazz in July returns to Johnston on Sunday.
Des Moines’ Fred Gazzo Band will highlight the free event, which will run from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at the Johnston Commons area just west of the Johnston Public Library, 6700 Merle Hay Road.
Food vendors will be on hand, and free children’s activities, including an inflatable bounce-house, will be available. Patrons are invited to bring shade tents, lawn chairs and blankets.

Now in its 30th year, the month-long Jazz in July festival celebrates jazz and art with free outdoor concerts across the Des Moines area. The Johnston event is sponsored by John Deere Financial, the city of Johnston, the Iowa National Guard and the Northglenn Neighborhood Association.
