The Path to Poughkeepsie

Frame Works is pleased to announce the opening of our next art exhibition.  The Path to Poughkeepsie will feature works of art by Penny Sullivan.  Please join us for the opening reception, Saturday March 9, 2013 4:00pm to 6:00pm and meet Penny.

Penny Sullivan was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. Her family was involved in the art community there, her grandfather a founder of the Joslyn Art Museum. Her father, uncle and great uncle were respected artists. Her uncle, Francis Martin, studied art in France and as a board member for the Joslyn, purchased paintings by the french academic painters for the Joslyn permanent collection. Penny was hooked by the smell of oil and turpentine by age 5 in her classes at the Joslyn. Times painting with her uncle always were learning and treasured times.

Today, Penny continues as a freelance designer and writes. She teaches intermediate and advanced art to women at the Iowa Correctional Institute for Women in Mitchellville as well as coordinate their shows. She also facilitates a group for Parents Anonymous.
