Where Can You Get Your Flu Shot in Johnston?

Now is the time to make an appointment to get your flu shot. Check out our list of Polk County Health Department flu clinics and mark your calendar.

As we're entering fall and children are back at school, the flu bug is just waiting to strike.

While staying home from work when you don't feel well and washing your hands are effective ways to avoid the flu, the flu vaccination is recommended by Polk County Health officials.

The department has arranged more than 100 flu vaccination clinics from now until November.

“Getting the flu is more than just a stuffy nose or sore throat," Rick Kozin, Polk County Health Department director said in a press release."It can cause symptoms such as coughing, headaches and fatigue that can last for up two weeks. Most people will feel miserable for at least a few days and will then recover but for some, like the elderly and kids or people with chronic diseases, the flu can cause complications like pneumonia or hospitalization. At a minimum, the flu will cause you to miss several days of work or school.”
