Hacked Email Leads to Potential Scam: Johnston Police Blotter

The Johnston Police Department investigated a number of calls May 29 to June 1. Take a look at the reports.

Charges do not always result in convictions. All individuals listed below are innocent until proven guilty.

May 29
Justin Decker, 23, was cited for allowing his dog to run at large when the dog was found at a neighbor's home in the 6000 block of Northwest 54th Court.

June 1
Kum & Go, 5800 Northglenn Drive, reported theft of gas. A man was located and returned to the store to pay for the gas. No charges were filed.

A 54-year-old man reported someone hacked into his email and sent messages to people he knows requesting money because he was in trouble in another country.

Officers responded to a call of simple assault. A 10-year-old's father reported his son was assaulted by a juvenile about the same age. No charges were pressed.
