High-Wind Advisory Issued for Johnston Area; Strong Thunderstorms Possible

The National Weather Service has issued a strong-wind advisory for Johnston and the surrounding area and warned that thunderstorms are possible.

The weather service says the thunderstorms could hit the area aftert 1 p.m. today. 

Sustained south winds of up to 33 mph are expected, with gusts as high as 55 mph. 

The chance of rain was put at 50 percent. 

The forecast for tonight calls for the wind to lessen a bit, but with the same strong gusts expected.
